AWS Free Tier Account

As one reader reminded me of my own words, “What is basic to me can be complex and confusing to others.” I have started to discuss “basic” concepts of SNS, CloudTrails, CloudWatch, etc., etc., but have not addressed the fundamental concept of “How do I get an AWS account?”
I WILL ADVISE YOU NOT TO DO THIS UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO CREATE THE ACCOUNT AND SECURE IT. (See my next post)
One can signup for a “Free-Tier” AWS account, and have access to many of the AWS services for free. All the specifics of this can be located on the AWS Free-Tier page.
Goto the link above:

Select the Create Free Account button as shown above.

Simply select “Create new AWS Account” as shown.

Provide an email address for the account, set and confirm a strong password, (14 characters, upper and lower case, numerics, symbols and a DNA sample), add a descriptive name for the account, and select continue.

As this will be a test account for my own personal use, I have selected personal, you will need to provide your personal information, I have declined to add mine here for obvious reasons. Select the box indicating you have read the AWS customer agreement and create the account.
You will need to provide credit card or debit card information to complete setup of the account.
Items of note:
- If you create resources, you may be charged for them
- If you create resources, remove them whence you are done
- DO NOT USE THE ROOT ACCOUNT for day to day operations
- Enable and USE MFA on all accounts
Do review my basics page for important information.
